Charles M. Schulz, who grew up in Minnesota’s twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, knew from earliest childhood that he wanted to draw comics. Schulz frequently said, “If you read the strip, you will know me…” In this gallery, you will learn about his family, childhood, and life experiences that shaped him into the artist and person he became.

In this gallery you will find one wall  dedicated to Schulz’s comic heroes, and another wall with his historical milestones, awards, and accolades. The four cases in the center of the gallery display artifacts of his childhood, military service, early career, and life in sports. Also presented in this gallery are three murals, completed by Schulz in the early 1950s, which originally adorned the children’s bedroom walls in the Schulz family’s homes.
