Summary
The Charles M. Schulz Museum, a not-for-profit museum in Santa Rosa, CA, seeks a full-time (Tuesday-Saturday) Public Programs and Visitor Services Coordinator. Our 27,000 square feet facility showcases the comic art and legacy of Charles M. Schulz and the Peanuts comic strip collection. This position is the primary floor staff person during the Museum’s busiest days and must provide a welcoming and friendly guest experience while ensuring the safety and comfort of visitors and Museum property.

Responsibilities

  • Opening and closing the Museum, including confirming satisfactory presentation and operation of Museum floor and Education Room.
  • Ensuring adequate daily volunteer coverage.
  • Leading school and adult tours, facilitating guest speaker events, and planning, coordinating, and facilitating public programs.
  • Welcoming tours and volunteers and providing additional assistance as necessary.
  • Acting as Education Department team member to assist with or cover programs as necessary, which could include classroom outreach, after school programs, Kid’s Nights, Museum sleepovers, Family Access Days, etc.

Qualifications
We are searching for a candidate with excellent communication skills and an ability to multitask. Must be able to work Saturdays, holidays, and select evenings as needed. Must have valid CA driver’s license.

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree or related experience
  • Minimum 1 year visitor services experience

Benefits and Compensation
This is a full-time position (Tuesday-Saturday) including benefits, and requiring 40 hours per week. $16.00 per hour.

CURATOR


Summary
The Charles M. Schulz Museum, a not-for-profit museum in Santa Rosa, CA seeks a multi-talented Curator. Our 27,000 square feet facility showcases the comic art and legacy of Charles M. Schulz and the Peanuts comic strip collection.

Responsibilities

  • Planning the exhibition schedule and researching and writing exhibition text for all of the Museum’s exhibition galleries, traveling exhibitions, and the satellite Museum in Tokyo.
  • Budgeting, organization, and implementation of original exhibitions, including the administration of a long-term internal exhibitions calendar.
  • Leading a collections and exhibitions team, including the Exhibitions Manager, Collections Manager, Registrar, Traveling Exhibitions Manager, Archivist, Assistant Archivist, and temporary projects staff.
  • Fostering cross-departmental exchanges of information related to exhibitions and collections in order to bolster efforts in marketing, development, educational programming, and volunteer enrichment.
  • Ensuring adherence to best practices of collections care, maintenance, and access. Representing the Museum among future donors, collectors, community members, and the general public.
  • Liaising with board committee members to coordinate two annual meetings of the exhibitions and collections committees.

Qualifications
We are searching for a creative, high-energy candidate with hands-on curatorial and supervisory experience and excellent communication skills.

Required Education and Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in Museum Studies or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of museum curatorial experience
  • Experience supervising staff
