Homeschool Day: The Science of Storytelling

Cost:
Youth: $15.00 per child (Museum activities only, no ice skating)
Youth + Skating: $22.00 per child
Chaperone: Free Adult (Adult not ice skating)
Chaperone + Skating: $7.00 (Adult plus ice skating)
Explore how scientific concepts are used in storytelling through hands-on activities in a variety of storytelling media. Make a mini zoetrope, experiment with stop-motion animation, engineer a tunnel book, dabble in color theory, and more! Also, ice skate at Snoopy’s Home Ice from 12:30-2:00 pm.
Enjoy the following hands-on activities, and more:
- Explore how science tells the story of outer space by launching rockets and using solar telescopes with Robert Ferguson Observatory
- Make ‘zines with Sonoma County Zine Club
- Discover the story of local birds with The Bird Rescue Center of Sonoma County
- Learn how geotechnical engineers study the story of soil and rocks through geological and engineering activities with Miller Pacific Engineering Group
- Read a comic strip or story to a dog with PALS Read to a Dog
- Explore comic storytelling with professional cartoonist Mary Valencia-Shyne
- Get a library card and browse books with Sonoma County Library
- Learn how music tells stories by exploring instruments with School of Rock
NOTE: Registration required for all attendees. Youth and children cannot attend without an adult chaperone. Adults cannot attend without children. Adults who are not ice skating are free, but they must still register.
