Kite Flying Foibles

Charlie Brown has many frustrations, but one of the worst is flying a kite. Charles M. Schulz admitted that he was never very good at flying kites, and that’s almost certainly why poor Charlie Brown fares even worse. In one memorable storyline, Charlie Brown gets so mad he bites a tree and becomes a fugitive from the Environmental Protection Agency! Explore kite-flying with the Peanuts gang and get swept away by the kite flying and failing that made Schulz’s comic strip soar. Beware, you may even encounter a Kite-Eating Tree!

Schulz returned to kite-flying for humor more than 160 times in the 50 years he created Peanuts. Kite Flying Foibles brings together strips from the early days of Peanuts all the way through to the last few months of his life, including the strip with the first use of the name Kite-Eating Tree, as well as the storyline where the Kite-Eating Tree caught Charlie Brown’s kite and nothing happened for over a week.

Kite Flying Foibles is available as a crated exhibition with everything shipped ready to be installed. The exhibition contains high resolution reproductions of original Peanuts comic strips and archival letters, photographs, thematic text, graphic elements, education guide, marketing kit with press release, detailed installation instructions and style guide.
