From her comic book debut in 1941 to today’s feature-length films, Wonder Woman reigns as the leading lady of DC Comics. Take a fun look back on her feminist and not-so-feminist history in this online event. Join panelists Meredith Finch (Wonder Woman comic series story writer), Gail Simone (storywriter for DC comics and animated films), and Victoria Ying (illustrator of the graphic novel Diana: Princess of the Amazons) to hear how they reworked Wonder Woman into a formidable female character in a comic universe dominated by men. Moderated by Elena Creef (professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at Wellesley College), the panel discussion is held in conjunction with the Schulz Museum’s exhibition, Lucy: Fussbudget to Feminist.
Event meets online on Saturday, December 5, 4:00 pm (Pacific Time/PT). Advance registration required—register below or by calling (707) 284-1272. Zoom link will be emailed three days before event. There are no refunds, credits, or cancellations for this event.
