Meet, watch, talk to, laugh, and learn with cartoonist Phil Witte in a multimedia presentation based on his new book Funny Stuff: How Great Cartoonists Make Great Cartoons (Prometheus Books, 2024). Funny Stuff examines the single-panel gag cartoon, the creative process, illustration styles, types of humor, and more, with over 100 cartoons by legendary cartoonists, plus exclusive interviews and a foreword by Bob Mankoff, the former cartoon editor of The New Yorker.
ABOUT PHIL WITTE
Phil Witte is a cartoonist and author. His cartoons have appeared in dozens of publications in the US and UK, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Reader’s Digest, Private Eye, The New Statesman, and, as a collaborator, The New Yorker. He wrote two joke books on aging, What You Don’t Know About Turning 50 and the sequel on turning 60, and has contributed humor pieces to print and online publications. Witte has also written straight articles and essays for The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and other leading newspapers. He’s a member of the National Cartoonists Society.
