Meet, watch, and talk to the Eisner-nominated Triple Dream Comics team of Lauren Davis, Mel Hilario, and Katie Longua as they celebrate their newest middle-grade graphic novel, Agent Cupcake. Together and separately, they’ve been creating comics and ‘zines for over ten years, including their debut graphic novel, Debian Perl, Digital Detective, which focused on the basics of coding and the importance of standing up for yourself and your friends. They’ve also worked on toys, video games, animation, short fiction, nonfiction articles, and, of course, comics.
ABOUT LAUREN DAVIS
Lauren Davis received her MFA in comics from the California College of the Arts and is currently a co-organizer for the long-running DIY arts festival San Francisco Zine Fest. In addition to self-publishing her own comics about science, history, and law, Lauren has collected and published two anthologies of comics: The Comic Book Guide to the Mission and Sci-Fi San Francisco. With Mel Hilario, she received a 2020 Writing by Writers residency.
ABOUT MEL HILARIO
Mel Hilario has an MFA in English and Creative Writing from Mills College, and has been a recipient of the Elizabeth George Foundation grant and residencies at VONA (Voices of our Nations Arts), Las Dos Brujas Writers Workshop, Writing by Writers, and Hedgebrook. When she isn’t writing fiction, nonfiction, and comic books, Mel is in martial arts or ballet class, or attempting to stay off social media and failing miserably.
ABOUT KATIE LONGUA
Katie Longua has been publishing her own comics for over ten years, including the award-winning RÖK, Her Space Opera, and Munchies. She’s done work for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, Image Comics, IDW Comics, Oni Press, Tapas Media, the San Francisco Exploratorium, Girls Make Games, and Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls. Her artistry extends well beyond comics into video games, fashion, art modeling, and toy design.
