Scope and Contents note

Following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Glickman wrote a letter to Charles M. Schulz on the subject of racially integrating Peanuts. The exchange between them resulted in the introduction of Franklin into the Peanuts strip in 1968. This collection contains correspondence between Schulz and Glickman as well as correspondence that Glickman wrote to other prominent cartoonists with the same request. The collection also contains an assortment of clippings relating to Peanuts and Franklin.
