ABOUT FIRST 5 CALIFORNIA
About First 5 California:
For 25 years, First 5 California has focused on helping children 0-5 receive the best possible start in life. It is the goal of First 5 California that in a generation, all children have access to safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments (SSNREs) to achieve healthy development.
The Stronger Starts campaign is an initiative that aims to raise awareness about the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and toxic stress in young children. Toxic stress occurs when children experience continuous, prolonged, or frequent stressful events without adequate adult support. Toxic stress can have lasting physical and mental effects, but parents and caregivers can take steps to help their children through adverse experiences by creating and maintaining safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments.

ABOUT JASON MENDLESON
Jason Mendelson is the CEO and Counsel for Lee Mendelson Film Productions, Inc., the company his father, the late Lee Mendelson (11-time Emmy® winner and famed producer of Peanuts, Garfield, and scores of other entertainment and documentary film and television projects), founded in 1963. Jason is a multi-Emmy® nominated and Emmy® winning producer of It’s Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown (2015). At age 4, Jason first worked in the business voicing Rerun (Linus and Lucy’s little brother) for The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show (1983) and continued voicing characters for his father (and others), including Little Critter (Disney records); Marcie in Happy New Year, Charlie Brown (1986); and Peppermint Patty in This is America Charlie Brown, (1988-1989). Jason then went behind the scenes to develop and produce numerous Peanuts specials and other entertainment and documentary projects in the 90s and through today. Jason has written, produced, and/or directed television, film, live stage productions, and musical events, and he co-produced the Vince Guaraldi Soundtrack albums for It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (2022), and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (2023). Jason loves being one of the stewards of the Peanuts’ television and film legacy left by his father, Charles Schulz, Bill Melendez, and Vince Guaraldi.
