Join worldwide bestselling author, illustrator, animator, and playwright Mo Willems as he talks about his work, process, and influences, including Charles M. Schulz.
Mo Willems is best known for his #1 New York Times bestselling picture books, which have been awarded three Caldecott Honors, two Theodor Geisel Medals, and five Geisel Honors. Willems’ art has been exhibited around the world, including major solo retrospectives at Atlanta’s High Museum and the New-York Historical Society. Over the last decade, Willems has become the most-produced playwright of Theater for Young Audiences in America, having written or co-written four musicals based on his books. Willems also won six Emmy awards for his writing on Sesame Street. His newest book, The Pigeon Will Ride the Roller Coaster (Union Square Kids), is the eighth title in the hugely popular Pigeon picture book series, which has sold millions of copies in North America and has been adapted for theater productions, museum exhibits, and TV specials.
Mo Willems will be in conversation with Iain R. Morris, creative director for the publishing house Cameron + Company. He has designed numerous movie “art of” books for Sony Pictures Animation, 20th Century Studios, Disney, Warner Bros., and DreamWorks Animation (for which he designed and wrote A Field Guide to the Croods: A New Age and The Art of The Bad Guys). He was the licensing art director for Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates for two years and has designed many Peanuts books, including The Peanuts Family Album and The Peanuts Cookbook trilogy.
