First Friday Film Series of Charles Schulz’s Favorite Films
Watch The Sting (1973) starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. The Sting won seven Oscar awards including Best Picture.

LEGO Animation Workshop
Spend five Saturdays working in small groups to create characters and stories, build sets, and use cameras and stop-motion animation to make a short LEGO movie with artist Surya O’Shea. Recommended for grades 4 and above.

Second Saturday Cartoonist
As part of the Cartoonist-in-Residence program, visitors can meet, watch, and talk to cartoonist Tessa Brunton. Brunton has been creating comics since 2006 including the online comic blog, Tessa’s Braces, and the self-published mini-comic, In the Tall Grass. She most recently completed Passage, a 32-page comic for Sparkplug Comic Books.

Special Guest
Meet tennis star and legend, Billie Jean King, who won a record 20 titles at Wimbledon during her tennis career. King was recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. She will answer questions and sign books after her presentation.

NEW EXHIBIT—“It’s a Fine Line”
“It’s a Fine Line” examines Schulz’s pen line and includes a display and description of his “tools of the trade.” This exhibition also incorporates how Schulz learned his technique and how his pen line changed over the years due to health considerations.

Master Class for Young Adults
Join Raina Telgemeier, creator of the graphic novel, Smile, to explore the art of making comics and writing stories. Participants will learn about thumbnails, layouts, balloon placement, panel variation, and the mechanics of sequential art, and will have a chance to create their own 4–8 page short comic. Recommended for aspiring cartoonists ages 10 and up.

Second Saturday Cartoonists
As part of the Cartoonist-in-Residence program, visitors can meet, watch and talk to cartoonists Raina Telgemeier and Dave Roman. Telgemeier’s graphic novel, Smile, recently won the Eisner Award for Best Publication for a Teen Audience; Roman is the creator of Astronaut Academy: Zero Gravity and is the co-author of two New York Times bestselling graphic novels, X-Men: Misfits and The Last Airbender: Zuko’s Story.

Second Saturday Cartoonist
As part of the Cartoonist-in-Residence program, visitors can meet, watch and talk to cartoonist and culinary artist Yasmin Golan. Golan’s work includes the mini-comic My Father, along with a variety of other illustrated books and ‘zines. Her work can be found online at milkntea.etsy.com.

NEW EXHIBIT—Play Clothes
How does clothing reflect a character’s personality or persona—like Peppermint Patty’s sandals or Snoopy’s goggles and helmet for instance? When and why do the characters change from their normal attire? And what’s up with the Gang’s winter clothing? It remained virtually unchanged for nearly 50 years! Play Clothes examines the different clothes and corresponding situations with a display of original Peanuts strips.

Girl Scout Day
Keep your mind and body active with crafts, games, and challenges in support of the new Athletes badges. Also celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts and 40 years of girls’ achievements in sports with the Museum’s newest exhibition, Leveling the Playing Field. Ice skate at Snoopy’s Home Ice and earn a Museum fun patch.

ABOUT THE CHARLES M. SCHULZ MUSEUM & RESEARCH CENTER
The Charles M. Schulz Museum opened in August 2002 to fulfill its mission of preserving, displaying, and interpreting the art of Charles M. Schulz. The museum carries out this mission through changing exhibitions and programming that: build an understanding of cartoonists and cartoon art; illustrate the scope of Schulz’s multi-faceted career; communicate the stories, inspirations and influences of Charles Schulz; and celebrate the life of Charles Schulz and the Peanuts characters.

The Charles M. Schulz Museum is located 50 minutes north of San Francisco by car on Highway 101. The Museum is located at 2301 Hardies Lane, Santa Rosa, California, 95403.
