Free Comic Book Day!   
Stop by the Museum to pick up a FREE Peanuts comic book by Kaboom! (while supplies last).
Comic books will be a handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Limit one per family.

Second Saturday Cartoonist
Meet, watch, and talk to cartoonist Ben Costa. Costa’s web comics include the historical fiction fantasy weekly comic Shi Long Pang, and Death of an Artist, Age 8, among others.

SUNDAY, MAY 13, 10:00 am–5:00 pm
Mothers Get in FREE
Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Schulz Museum with Mom. Mothers get in free all day.

MONDAY, MAY 28, 10:00 am–Noon
Museum Mondays for Little Ones

Enjoy stories, movement games, and arts and crafts for children ages 1 through 5 and their caregivers on the last Monday of the month through September.
$5/child; up to 2 adults per child are free before 11:00 am; after 11:00 am, regular Museum admission applies.

MONDAY, JUNE 4
Summer Classes Begin!
Spend the summer at the Museum learning cartooning, animation, art, and even ice skating! Offered for the first time is Act Out, where children will be able to develop, write, and act in their own play in a week-long drama class led by professional storyteller Victoria Goring, of Story Theater. Designed for children ages 3–13, all the classes are hands-on, interactive, and fun!

THURSDAY, JUNE 7, 5:00–8:00 pm
FREE Evening
Ring in the summer with free admission and crafts facilitated by Isabelle Selby of Isabelle’s Table.

SATURDAY, JUNE 9, 1:00–3:00 pm
Second Saturday Cartoonist
Meet, watch, and talk to children’s book illustrator and author Kathryn Otoshi. Otoshi’s book One won 15 awards including the E.B. White Read Aloud Honor Book and Teacher’s Choice Award. Her other books include Zero, What Emily Saw, and The Saddest Little Robot.

Fathers Get in FREE
Celebrate Father’s Day at the Schulz Museum with Dad. Fathers get in free all day.

SATURDAY, JUNE 23, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm
Story Theater
Join storyteller Victoria Goring for a live, improvised, interactive performance. Children of all ages will participate by providing ideas and helping Ms. Goring create a unique and different story every time she performs.

Vince Guaraldi at the Piano
Author Derrick Bang will read from, and discuss, his new biography of jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi, who is best known for the music he wrote for the Peanuts animated television specials, movies and feature films. Learn more about Guaraldi’s life and career from Bang, author of 50 Years of Happiness and Charles M. Schulz: Li’l Beginnings.

Second Saturday Cartoonist
Meet, watch and talk to 15-year-old cartoonist Emma T. Capps who developed her weekly web comic The Chapel Chronicles in eighth grade. Capps recently won the National Gold Medal in cartoon art from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, 2011.

SATURDAY, JULY 21, 1:00–3:00 pm
Guest Cartoonist
Meet Colorado cartoonist Daniel Conner who creates comics and art for Abdo Publishing, the Buffalo Bill Museum, Mile High Comics, and others. Five of his graphic novels, including adaptations of Shakespeare plays, are on the Accelerated Reader book list. His series, Heaven Forbid, can be read at www.crazygoodcomics.com.

NEW EXHIBITION! Thoughtful Interactions
This exhibition examines Schulz’s humanizing of inanimate objects with humorous results.

Celebrate the Museum’s 10th anniversary with free ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery of Sonoma County (while supplies last) and live storytelling and cartoon performances by artist Joe Wos.

Learn to ’Toon
Join cartoonist Joe Wos for half-day cartooning classes. Take a fun, hands-on, step-by-step course in creating your own characters and comic strips. Advance reservations and required.

Saturday, August 11, 1:00–3:00 pm
Second Saturday Cartoonist
Meet, watch, and talk to award-winning alternative cartoonist Steven Weissman. Best known for his 1997 series Yikes (volume II), published by Alternative Comics, Weissman has also created comics for Fantagraphics, Marvel Entertainment, and Nickelodeon Magazine.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 18 through DECEMBER 9, 2012
NEW EXHIBITION! Name Dropping
Enjoy “meeting” famous politicians, athletes, actors, authors, and scientists who have appeared in Peanuts strips.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 18, 1:00 pm
Special Guest
Join Japanese artist Yoshiteru Otani with a live, brush painting performance. Otani, accompanied by Japanese Taiko drummer Rin Matoba, will draw a 10’ x 13’ Japanese Kanji with a giant brush and “simu.”

SUNDAY, AUGUST 19, 10:00 am–Noon
Master Class in the Art of Paper Cutting
Artist Yoshiteru Otani will teach the art of Japanese paper cutting and help participants make their own paper sculpture. Advance reservations are required. Call for fees and reservations at (707) 284-1263. For adults and children over 12.

Yoshiteru Otani will speak about his monumental works, Morphing Snoopy and the Peanuts Tile Wall, both commissioned for the Museum.

ABOUT THE CHARLES M. SCHULZ MUSEUM & RESEARCH CENTER
The Charles M. Schulz Museum opened in August 2002 to fulfill its mission of preserving, displaying, and interpreting the art of Charles M. Schulz. The museum carries out this mission through changing exhibitions and programming that: build an understanding of cartoonists and cartoon art; illustrate the scope of Schulz’s multi-faceted career; communicate the stories, inspirations and influences of Charles Schulz; and celebrate the life of Charles Schulz and the Peanuts characters.

LOCATION
The Charles M. Schulz Museum is located 50 minutes north of San Francisco by car on Highway 101. The Museum is located at 2301 Hardies Lane, Santa Rosa, California, 95403.

Weekdays Monday thru Friday (except Tuesdays*) 11am – 5pm
Saturday & Sunday 10am – 5pm
Closed Tuesdays*
*Open everyday throughout the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day)

ADMISSION FEES
Free – Museum Members, Children 3 and under
$5.00 – Children 4-18, college students with valid I.D. card, and Seniors 62+
$10.00 – Adults
